The Batteau Festival Arts And Crafts Market In Scottsville, Virginia

The Batteau Festival is an annual 8-day river float which has revived the days of moving hogsheads (big barrels) of tobacco along the James in Virginia. The batteaux put in at various stops along the River from Stapleton (east of Lynchburg, Virginia) to Maidens (west of Richmond, Virginia). The batteaux will be in Scottsville, Virginia on June 24th. Pete Hellmann, as well as other artists, will be participating in the arts market. Come and see the batteaux and browse the artist booths while listening to the music of local bands in historic Scottsville, Virginia.

Rural Virginia photographer, Pete Hellmann, is having a solo show at the Altavista YMCA in Altavista, Virginia during the month of January. The show is sponsored by the Altavista Arts Council. There will be a reception that is open to the public on Jan. 13th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The show will feature works from Pete's Virginia Foothills series. Celebrate Virginia's great outdoors... indoors.

Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine, Richmond Camera and the Virginia Tourism Corporation cordially invite you to the gallery opening of the Capture Your Passion in Virginia Photography Show. Photographers and outdoor enthusiasts, including rural photographer Pete Hellmann, submitted their best images of the great outdoors of Virginia and the twenty best images have been selected for the show. Selected images will be on display on the evening of Friday, December 7th, 2007 starting at 7:00 pm. The event is hosted by Richmond Camera's gallery location at 215 West Broad Street in downtown Richmond, Virginia. The show will run through the month of December.

Pete Hellmann Receives Honors At New River Art 2007

New River Art 2007 is a juried exhibition of fine art from the New River Valley region of Virginia sponsored by the Blacksburg Regional Art Association. The show opened on Tuesday, October 30 and runs through December 7th at the Perspectives Gallery in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Perspectives Gallery is located in Squires Student Center on the campus of Virginia Tech. Rural Virginia photographer, Pete Hellmann, who is an alumnus of Virginia Tech, was honored with a special photography award during the exhibition reception which was held on Sunday November 4th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. When asked about the show Pete stated, "It is an honor to be able to participate, let alone receive an award for my work. I'm just glad that I can give something back to the Virginia Tech community after the events of last spring. We are Virginia Tech and we will prevail."
